“We are doing everything possible to make sure collaboration is complete and timely and allows us to arrive at the truth,” explained the official. He added that his country had received the first batch of documents on Regeni’s death sent by the Egyptians. “They are related to the questioning of witnesses by the Egyptian authorities, the telephone traffic of Giulio Regeni’s mobile phone and a partial summary of the autopsy.”
According to ANSA, the Egyptian authorities have suggested several different possible reasons for the murder of Regeni, who was found on 3 February in a ditch outside Cairo. The student disappeared on 25 January and had signs of torture on his body when it was discovered.
