Member of the Refugee Affairs Committee in the Iraqi Parliament Lekaa Wardi has said that an estimated 17,000 people have been displaced from their homes in Anbar province over the past few weeks.

Wardi said that the wave of displacement in Anbar province continues.

“These people live without homes and do not have food,” she told reporters on Monday at the parliament building in Baghdad.

She added that only humanitarian organizations are offering assistance.

The Iraqi security forces have launched large-scale operations to regain control of some of the areas under Daesh in Anbar province.

According to official data, nearly three million people have been displaced from their homes in Iraq in areas that have fallen to Daesh.
