Deputy head of the Islamic movement in Israel, Kamal Khatib said the movement rejects Jordan’s plan to install security cameras in Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards, denying the existence of any contacts between his movement and the Jordanian authorities to arrange for the installation.
Khatib told Resala news that the movement does not cast doubt on the Kingdom of Jordan intentions but believes the cameras will be used by Israel which controls communication and internet networks in Jerusalem to “haunt Palestinian activists”.
Khatib stressed that the Palestinians will not allow anyone to use the cameras against them.

He noted that the security cameras plan came about during talks between US Secretary of State, John Kerry and Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu in Amman in September, last year.
Remarking on the Jordanian Endowment remarks that the cameras will be used in response to Israeli cameras, Khatib said Jordan should have called on Israel to remove the cameras.
