Three Arab nominations for the position of director-general of UNESCO so far and they will be presented before the Arab League Council at the meeting scheduled for 8 September, a senior official said.
In a press statement issued yesterday, Deputy Secretary-General of the Arab League Ambassador Ahmed Ben Helli said: “We might announce other nominations in the next few days,” explaining that there is a candidate from Egypt, another from Lebanon, and a candidate from Qatar.
He explained that the candidate of the State of Qatar is the GCC’s contender for the position, expressing his hope for an Arab consensus on the nominations.
