Donations to the Palestinian Authority from foreign states have fallen by 70 per cent, Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki has revealed. He described the PA’s financial situation as difficult, Quds Press reported on Friday.
According to Al-Maliki, the PA has to look for new sources of income, based on seeking help from other Arab countries to overcome the difficult circumstance. He made his comments in Cairo at the 146th meeting of the foreign ministers of Arab League member states.
Furthermore, the minister pointed to the importance of decisions made in favour of Palestine during the meeting. He stressed that is necessary to commit to the implementation of the Arabic Safety Network, which is to pay $100 million a month to the PA.
When asked about other resolutions, Al-Maliki said that there is an opportunity to cooperate with the Arab League to implement them on the ground. In the main, this would be the resolution to go to the UN Security Council and measures related to curbing Israeli violations of international law and Palestinian human rights.
