PYD raises American flag in Syrian city

Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), the military wing of the terrorist group the PKK, has raised the American flag on top of a building under its control in the town of Tell Abyad, Syria, the Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.

Three American flags were seen to be raised in the area on 18 September, two were removed while the third remained in place for a little longer but was later brought down.

Local sources said the PYD use the flags to protect themselves from Turkish attacks.

The US provides the group with aid and consultations while Turkey deems it a terrorist organisation which has carried out deadly attacks in the country.
