Egypt to open Rafah crossing for 3 days

December 9, 2016 at 4:00 pm

The Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the besieged Gaza Strip will be opened for three days starting tomorrow, Egyptian authorities announced yesterday.

The state-run Middle East News Agency said the authorities will reopen the border crossing for “humanitarian cases and stranded students and allow the entry of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip according to the established procedure”.

The interior ministry in Gaza said that the Egyptian authorities have informed it of the decision to reopen the crossing in both directions from tomorrow until Monday.

The ministry says some 20,000 people have registered to travel for humanitarian reasons.
