One million barrels of liquefied gas have been exported from Iran to Europe for the first time since the end of sanctions on January, the Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.

According to Anadolu, IRNA news agency reported the state owned South Pars Gas Complex (SPGC) saying that more than 125 million barrels of liquefied gas were produced during the past eight months, citing a production increase by 18 million barrels compared to last year.

Reporting the same news agency, it said the Iranian exports of liquefied gas to Asian countries during the past eight months reached 98 million barrels.

America imposed sanctions on Iran in the wake of the Iranian Revolution in 1979. In 2006, the UN adopted sanctions on Iran over its nuclear programme.

In mid-2012, the EU imposed embargo on Iran’s oil exports in order to push it to negotiate over its nuclear programme.

Iran reached a comprehensive deal with the P5+1 countries in 2014 lifting most international sanctions in return for restrictions on Iran’s nuclear activities.
