Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s bodyguards fought with the security forces of his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni on Sunday, leaked footage released on social media shows.

The altercation erupted after Al-Sisi’s guards refused to hand over their weapons before entering the Ugandan president’s residence where the two leaders were meeting.

“The short clip seen by The Ugandan shows the SFC Commandoes who guard General Museveni and his family battled with four Egyptian presidential guards who attempted to enter State House armed, contrary to standard security practice,” the Ugandan paper said.

Al-Sisi headed to Uganda on Sunday on an official visit which lasted one-day following an invitation from Museveni. The visit, which was described in the media as “abrupt”, came after a Saudi official visited the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which is currently under construction. Egypt fears that the dam’s construction could affect its historical quotas of Nile waters.
