Kuwait and Iraq have signed four new agreements to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of security, industry, culture and air travel.

The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the sixth session of a joint Kuwaiti-Iraqi ministerial committee in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, today.

On Wednesday, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah met with Iraqi President Fuad Masum, Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi and the Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim Al-Jabouri.

Speaking at a joint press conference, Al-Sabah said talks between Kuwait and Iraq are progressing, noting that the two countries already have 49 agreements and memoranda of understanding, Kuwait’s KUNA news agency reported.

It was announced yesterday that Kuwait will begin importing Iraqi gas in the new year, though no date has been given for the exact start of the transfer.
