Israeli tank shelling killed one Palestinian youth and wounded two others in the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah late last night, Palestinian security sources said.
Spokesman of the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Ashraf Al-Qidra named the dead youth on his Facebook page as 18-year-old Yousif Abu-Athra.
He also said that one of the two youths who were wounded suffered serious injuries while other was mildly wounded. They are being treated at the Abu-Yousef Al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah.
According to security sources, the Israeli tank shelling targeted a group of Palestinian youths in a playground to the east of Al-Nahda neighbourhood in Rafah.
Most of the youths came from city’s Yibna refugee camp.
Israeli media reported a military spokesperson claiming that the three Palestinians approached the border between Gaza and Israel before being shot at.
