A settler organisation will monitor Palestinian construction activities near the Jewish settlement of Ma’aleh Adumim, east of the occupied city of Jerusalem, during the Passover holiday, Israel’s Haaretz reported.

The newspaper reported yesterday that a group of settlers has been commissioned to monitor Palestinians construction activities in East Jerusalem during the Passover holiday when the Civil Administration of the Israeli army staff are not working.

According to Haaretz, settler groups are working against the legal Palestinian-European construction in East Jerusalem and on Highway 1 which connects Jerusalem and the Dead Sea.

They have been found to be photographing Palestinians using aerial cameras, and providing Israeli police and the Civil Administration with the images in order for demolitions to take place.

Their activities have led to the demolition of many buildings and are a deterrent to Palestinian construction.
