Muslim Brotherhood condemns terrorist attack in Manchester, UK

Ibrahim Munir, Deputy General Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, 23 May 2017

The Muslim Brotherhood strongly condemns the lawless bombing which took place yesterday, 22 June 2017, in the British city of Manchester, killing and wounding dozens.

The organisation stresses that those who committed this atrocity, regardless of their religion or affiliations, are enemies of humanity and are in no way linked to religion.

Islam prohibits unlawful killing in any manner. The preservation of life is one of Islamic legislation’s most important covenants.

Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless in retaliation for murder or for corruption [done] in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors. (Al-Ma’idah, verse 32).

The organisation offers its condolences to the families of the victims and to the entire British nation.

The Muslim Brotherhood reiterates its position that rejects the killing of innocent people for whatever reason. Our position is based on the principles of Islam, the message of justice and peace.

God is great and praise be to Him.

Ibrahim Munir Mustafa
Deputy Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood
