Israel’s Attorney General, Avichai Mandelblit, has asked the Israeli High Court to give him an extra two months to audit suspicions related to the prime minister’s tax evasion when he renovated his home, AlKhaleejonline.com reported on Sunday.
The website quoted a report in Haaretz, which noted that the High Court was to look at the issue on Sunday and it would oblige Benjamin Netanyahu to pay the taxes which could amount to a million Israeli shekels ($282,000). No comment was issued by Netanyahu’s office in relation to what Haaretz reported.
During the past few months, Netanyahu has been interrogated four times by police officers over graft charges. Until now, though, it has not been clear whether Mandelblit will issue an official indictment against him or not.
