An Egyptian TV show was forced to issue an apology today after its latest episode aired with graffiti which read “Sisi is a traitor”.

In yesterday’s episode of “La Totfea’ Al Shams“, The Sun Never Sets, two characters are seen walking past graffiti on a wall which reads “Cc” followed by the Arabic word “khayin”, traitor.

Viewers were quick to point out the gaff on social media and the channel issued an apology today for the oversight [below].

The apology said the act of sabotage was part of the “terrorist Brotherhood’s activities”. The scene has now been re-edited and all repeats of the show the letters “cc” followed by a heart.

Actor Ahmed Malik, who is seen in the clip, has previously been arrested by Egyptian police for playing a prank on security officers. He later issued an apology for his actions.

The “La Totfea’ Al Shams” is part of CBC’s offering during the peak Ramadan season. It is based on the novel by Ihsan Abdel Quddous.
