Namibia is open for Turkish investment, confirms minister

Namibia’s Deputy Minister of Transport confirmed on Tuesday that his country is open to investment from Turkey, Anadolu has reported. “We will facilitate the work of Turkish investors,” added James Sankwasa.

He noted that investment from Turkey would play a “pioneering role” in reinforcing development and stability in Namibia. More specifically, the minister pointed out that the southern African state needs an international standard airport to make travel across the continent much easier.

The transport sector has already received much Turkish support, Sankwasa explained, although the airport needs more. Turkish Airlines, for example, signed an agreement in February to share information and passengers with Namibia’s national carrier. Turkish Airlines is also offering training to Air Namibia staff and will carry out maintenance on its aircraft.
