The Head of the Manpower Directorate of the Israel Defence Forces, Moti Almoz, has decided to pay a financial reward to Elor Azaria, the soldier who killed an already wounded Palestinian in Hebron, Alwatanvoice.com reported on Wednesday.

Almoz decided to pay the personal savings and demobilisation gift to Azaria, who killed Abdel Fattah Al-Sharif. He will receive 24,000 Israeli Shekels ($6,897), half of the total normally paid to soldiers who complete their military service. Azaria served just 18 months of his military service, which is supposed to last for three years.

The decision to pay the cash to Azaria came after a decision by Israeli Chief of General Staff Gadi Eizenkot to reduce his 18-month prison sentence to 14 months.
