Hamas denies asking Jordan for an office in Amman

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, denied on Thursday that it has asked Jordan for permission to open an office in Amman, Quds Press has reported.

“All the reports about this issue are baseless,” insisted Ra’fat Morrah, the Head of the movement’s information committee. “The claims are aimed at disrupting the positive relationship between Hamas and Jordan.”

It is known that the head of the Hamas Political Bureau, former Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, had a telephone conversation on Wednesday with Jordan’s King Abdullah II and discussed the latest political developments with the Hashemite monarch. The main focus of the discussion was Palestinian internal reconciliation.

A statement from Hamas revealed that the King had stressed Jordan’s continuing support for all Palestinians to be able to cope with the ongoing challenges.
