Israeli occupation authorities to open Karm Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) crossing with Gaza today after a two-day closure, spokesperson of the Israeli army told the media yesterday evening.
The Palestinian Authority official in charge of crossings, Nazmi Muhanna, confirmed the announcement and said that Israel had officially informed the Palestinian authorities about this.
Israel suddenly closed the crossing on Sunday morning without giving any reason. In the evening, it claimed it bombed a tunnel in the area. The crossing remained closed yesterday.
Rights groups have repeatedly condemned Israel’s closure of the Gaza Strip’s crossings which they say constitutes an act of “collective punishment” which “constitutes a serious violation of international law”.
