Israel, US to hold joint military exercise

February 23, 2018 at 11:11 am

Israel and the United States will organise a joint military exercise in southern Israel within the next two week, Channel 10 reported yesterday.

The TV station said the two armies will train on airdrops behind enemy lines by land and sea, as well as rescue operations for wounded soldiers inside enemy territory and night warfare.

According to the channel, the training will also include combat and aerial combat, landing by helicopter in populated areas inside the Tsalim military base in the Negev region.

The Israeli Air Force and the US Navy will also train on how to support ground and naval forces by launching airstrikes, electronic warfare and aerial reconnaissance.

A US aircraft carrier was due to arrive in Israel yesterday carrying 30 US aircrafts and 2,500 navy officers who are due to participate in the exercises.

In September 2017, the US Air Force opened its first permanent base in Israel in the Negev.
