A senior Russian security official yesterday accused the United States of establishing 20 military bases in areas controlled by Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria.

Assistant to Russia’s Security Council Secretary, Alexander Venediktov, said: “The ongoing external interference in the Syrian crisis prevent stability and the return of peace to Syria. For example the establishment of some 20 military bases in areas controlled by the Kurdish Democratic Union Party or PYD.”

Venediktov added that the US has been supporting the Kurds with the latest weapons.
