Address by Dr Jacob Cohen at MEMO’s Palestine, ‘Britain and the Balfour Declaration‘ conference held in London on October 7, 2017.

Born in 1944 in Morocco, Dr Jacob Cohen joined the Zionist youth movement at age of 16 and left at 20. He studied law and political science in Casablanca and Paris and worked as an assistant-professor in law in Casablanca in 1978 to 1987.Jacob has written novels about Moroccan society as well politically engaged novels about Zionist Jews in France.

This final session examines Britain’s role specifically, from the Declaration and Mandate period, contemporary foreign policy positions and the extent to which pro- Israel advocacy groups shape policy, and interact with Britain’s perceived priorities.
