The Head of the Hamas Political Bureau has asked the Secretary-General of the Arab League to take Israel to the International Criminal Court following its murderous attack on last Friday’s Great March of Return in Gaza.
A statement from the movement said that Ismail Haniyeh called Ahmed Abul Gheit to ask for a formal commission of inquiry into the killing of a number of peaceful protesters by soldiers of the Israel Defence Forces.

Haniyeh apparently downplayed the attempts to take the issue to the UN Security Council for a condemnation of the Israeli aggression, given that the US will, inevitably, veto such a resolution. The Hamas chief and Arab League official agreed to stay in contact and continue discussions of the latest developments in the Palestinian arena.
The events on Friday marked day one of the 45-day protest which will reach its peak on 15 May, the anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba (Catastrophe), when the state of Israel was created on Palestinian land.
