Israeli occupation authorities yesterday began installing mobile homes near the gate of East Jerusalem, near Al-Ayzeria neighbourhood, likely to relocate residents of Khan al-Ahmar, Quds Net News reported.
Head of Al-Eizariya’s Municipality Issam Firoun said that Israeli military forces stormed the eastern part of the neighbourhood and started to install caravans.
“The Israeli occupation army announced the area a closed military zone and prevented access to it,” he said.
He noted that the mobile houses are being installed on a private land owned by Palestinians from Al-Eizariya and Abu-Dis.
“It seems that the occupation is planning to relocate the residents of Khan Al-Ahmar to the new site according to a plan announced a couple of years ago,” Firoun said, stressing that this plan, which included the “enforced displacement of Khan Al-Ahmar’s residents”, is completely rejected.
