July 14, 2018 at 11:21 am

The Tunisian authorities have confirmed that they have received a citizen deported from Germany who is alleged to have been involved in terrorist acts. The man in question is said to have been a bodyguard of Osama Bin Laden.

The authorities explained that the security services were interrogating the prisoner, named only as “Sami”, before handing him over to the judiciary.

The official spokesman of the Tunisian Judicial Counterterrorism Institution, Sofiene Al-Saliti, said that the deportation came after an international arrest order was issued by Tunisia. He pointed out that the Public Prosecutor has given permission to the National Division for the investigation of terrorist offenses, to continue Sami’s interrogation.

Al-Saliti added that Sami received military training in Afghanistan. He was also, it is believed, involved in extremist activities in Germany, where a number of charges were filed against him.
