Qatar invests $500m in Indonesia tourism sector

Qatar yesterday announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding to develop Indonesia’s tourism sector with investment amounting to $500 million, the Qatari News Agency (QNA) reported.

The funds were allocated to plans to build ten tourism sites in a number of areas which will be chosen by the Indonesian government, the report said.

Indonesia aims to increase its GDP as part of its economic vision for 2030.

Qatar’s desire to diversify its economy and reduce its dependence on gas revenues has led to the expansion of cooperation with a number of countries, which are the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
