Egyptian and Jordanian postal services sign protocol on e-commerce

September 24, 2018 at 9:29 am

The Egyptian and Jordanian postal services have signed a cooperation protocol covering e-commerce, including money transfers. The Chairman of the Egyptian National Post Organisation, Ezzam El-Saghir, explained that this will allow, for example, Jordanians to shop online from companies in the US, Britain and China via the Cairo International Airport Logistics Centre.

El-Saghir signed the protocol with the Director General of Jordanian Post, Dr Khaled Al-Lahham. Items purchased online, he said, will be shipped to the centre in Cairo and then sent on to Jordan. “This reduces the cost of shipping and improves the level of service.”

The agreement also provides for the activation of the immediate remittance service for Egyptians working in Jordan,” added El-Saghir. They can transfer cash to their families in Egypt through 4,000 post offices around the country.
