Egypt is waiting for Hamas to reply to five demands posed by Fatah President Mahmoud Abbas ahead of any plan for reconciliation, Al-Wattan Voice reported.

Abbas handed his demands to the Egyptians during his meeting with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in the resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh last week.

The Palestinian president agreed to take on the responsibility for the Palestinian police in Gaza, collect taxes, control the judicial institutions, ministries and border crossings as a first stage.

The second stage, the report said, includes the formation of a national unity government within three months. Next he’d hold general elections.

Abbas promised that he would not impose new punitive measures on Gaza before getting Hamas’ reply to his demands.
