Israel detains 3 Palestinian students after school

There are 5,554 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons, of whom 230 are child prisoners, 41 under the age of 16.

Israeli forces detained three Palestinian students, including two teenage girls, in front of a local school in Beituniya village in the central occupied West Bank district of Ramallah yesterday.

According to local sources, Israeli forces detained the three Palestinian students after school and transferred them to the Ofer detention centre in the Ramallah district.

The Palestinian Ministry of Education said Israeli forces forced the three students into an Israeli military jeep amid cries by other students urging the soldiers to release them.

The reason for their detention remains unknown.According to prisoners rights group Addameer, there are 5,554 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons, of whom 230 are child prisoners, 41 under the age of 16.
