Women hold 20 per cent of funds held in Saudi banks, worth more than $53 billion.

“Women benefit from more than 66 investment funds, as well as other funding programs,” Saudi bank spokesman Talaat Hafez explained.

“In their business plan, Saudi banks have placed considerable focus on the Saudi woman and her various banking and finance operations, just like men, to enhance her role in trade, investment and the economy,” he said.

He pointed out that Saudi banks have been concerned about the female business sector on an equal footing with the male business sector, through establishing several channels which aim at empowering working women as regards to job opportunities and positions.

He also highlighted that this will not be achieved unless women are allowed to hold key positions.
