An Egyptian doctor is accused of killing his wife and their three children inside their home in the Kafr El-Sheikh Province, north the country.

The story began when a doctor in the fourth decade of age filed a statement with the security services stating that he found his wife and children slaughtered inside his house, according to the state-run news agency MENA.

The wife, Mona, was 38, while the three children Abdullah, Omar, and Laila were eight, six, and two years old, respectively.

But the investigation indicated that the husband himself is allegedly guilty. The husband collapsed while he was being questioned by the police, MENA added.

The husband reportedly told investigators that he committed the crime after losing his temper during an altercation between him and his wife over disagreements.

The Egyptian authorities said that the wife and three children were hanged and slaughtered by the father.

The father allegedly tried to hide his crime by hiding and staging the disappearance of his wife’s jewellery so as to lead investigators to think that theft was the motive behind the murder. But police found none of the house’s doors and windows closed, which indicated to them that no break-ins happened and the husband is the likely culprit.

The Egyptian authorities broadcast a video showing the gold jewellery found in the husband’s possession, in addition to the knife used in the crime.

“Mona was very nice, hearty, elegant, religious, and loved by everyone; and she used to visit all her neighbours on every occasion,” one of the neighbours said.

She continued: “We did not hear about anything bad done by her. On the contrary, she prayed regularly and was very caring toward her children and their homework.”

Another neighbour said that the accused doctor “deeply loved his wife and kids. He was friendly and loved by everyone. No one heard of their secrets. I do not know why he did that.”
