Report: UK renovating embassy in Syria’s Damascus

As many as four employees of the British Embassy in Beirut visited the British Embassy in Damascus as part of plans to renovate the building, Russia Today news website reported yesterday.

According to the report, the employees met with construction companies in Damascus and discussed renovating the embassy building.

The site quoted “unnamed” sources as saying that at this stage work will focus on renovating the embassy building to prepare for reopening it at a yet to be determined date.

The UAE announced last week the reopening of its embassy in Damascus, followed by Bahrain which said the Syrian Embassy in Manama is operating as usual.
