Iraqi security forces have thwarted a missile attack on the Al-Harir base in Erbil province in Kurdistan which hosts US forces.
The Security Media Cell said in a statement that “based on intelligence information, 5 Grad missiles were seized, along with their launchers which had been equipped to be launched from the village of Ihsar.”
Meanwhile, Iraqi security and military sources said the operation was carried out after drones monitored the missiles and intelligence information was received about members of a faction in the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) who transported the missiles using a government car without number plates.
The US forces are in Iraq as a part of the international coalition helping Baghdad fight Daesh.
