Sudan rebels: ‘No talks, no reconciliation and no partnership’ with Military Council

The Sudanese Professionals Association, which is leading the anti-military coup, announced on Friday that there would be no talks or partnership with the Military Council, Anadolu Agency reported.

The association posted in a statement on Facebook: “The revolution forces raised its flags and said: ‘No talks, no reconciliation and no partnership.’”

The statement added: “We reiterate that external dictations, which does not represent our people and their interests, as well as the superior proposals, which only represent an isolated internal elite, are useless.”

In addition, the statement said: “Those who are looking for a new reconciliation that will return the coup leaders to the spectrum should recognise that their efforts will be ignored by the will of our people.”

This came following the agreement of Sudan’s military leader, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, with the US on the need to speed up the formation of a new government after ordering the release of four ministers of the deposed government.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Al-Burhan’s office shared that this agreement followed a telephone call between Al-Burhan and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

“The two parties agreed on the need to maintain the path of the democratic transition, the need to complete the structures of the transitional government and to speed up the formation of the government,” Al-Burhan’s office disclosed.

On Thursday, Al-Burhan’s media advisor Taher Abouhaga also noted: “We are considering all internal and external initiatives to serve the national interest. The government formation is imminent.”
