UAE President Sheikh Mohamad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed with his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, strengthening joint cooperation between the two countries, climate issues and regional and international developments.

Egyptian presidential spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said in a statement on Facebook that the two presidents discussed “ways to benefit from the successful Egyptian experience in hosting the previous session of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh, and to build on the results achieved, with the aim of giving a push to joint climate action at the international level to preserve environmental resources and achieve the interests of humanity.”

During the meeting, they expressed their “pride in the strong brotherly relations between Egypt and the UAE, reflected in the close coordination between the two countries, with the aim of supporting the stability of the Arab region, especially at this stage in which challenges are increasing internationally and regionally,” according to the same source.

The Emirates News Agency (WAM) said that the meeting “discussed UAE-Egypt ties, particularly in the economic, investment, and development areas, as well as promising opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation to further serve the interests of the two countries and peoples.”

“Both sides underscored the importance of working towards peaceful solutions to regional crises through dialogue and diplomacy while bolstering regional peace and stability,” adding that the leaders also discussed COP28, which is being hosted by the UAE in November, “its importance in advancing collective climate action, especially in the areas of sustainability and resource conservation, and delivering mutual benefits to all in efforts to achieve a better future for humanity.”

The Egyptian presidency announced that Al-Sisi headed to the UAE yesterday, no details were given about the length of his visit.
