Israeli occupation forces opened fire on Friday at a Palestinian demonstration near the eastern fence of the Gaza Strip, injuring 22 demonstrators, the Ministry of Health disclosed.
This came as Palestinians in Gaza had been demonstrating for the seventh consecutive day in protest against Israeli aggression on the West Bank, Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, and calling for ending the Israeli siege on Gaza.
Security sources said the Palestinian youths fired incendiary balloons towards Israel and detonated sound bombs near the fence.
Israeli media reported several fires caused by balloons launched from Gaza.
The Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas, which rules Gaza, confirmed that the youths are calling for the Israel siege to be lifted and the Qatari grant to be extended.
Meanwhile, Qatari Ambassador Mohammed Al-Emadi on Friday announced his intention to pay $100 per family for 100,000 families in Gaza.
