Egypt’s new ambassador to Turkiye, Amr El-Hamami, confirmed on Wednesday his determination to improve Egyptian-Turkish relations. El-Hamami made his comment when he presented his credentials to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cairo, El-Hamami expressed his pride in being appointed the first Egyptian ambassador to Turkiye in more than 10 years. President Erdogan took photos with the new ambassador, his family and some embassy staff.
Turkiye and Egypt issued a joint statement in July pointing out that their diplomatic relations had been raised to ambassador level. They announced that Salih Mutlu Sen was to be appointed as Ankara’s ambassador to Cairo, and El-Hamami would be the new Egyptian ambassador to Turkiye.
