The Palestinian resistance yesterday threatened to kill an Israeli hostage every time Israel struck Gaza without warning, Anadolu news agency reported.

“We announce that for every targeting of our people who are safe in their homes without warning, we will regretfully be met with the execution of our enemy’s civilian hostages,” Abu Obeida, a spokesman for the Qassam Brigades said yesterday evening.

He explained that the decision aims to hold Israel and the Israeli leadership responsible for this decision before the world.

Earlier yesterday, Israeli Army Radio said: “Israel has decided to continue attacks on the Gaza Strip, even if that means harming Israelis” held as prisoners of war by the resistance.

The total number of Israelis held as prisoners of war by the resistance remains unknown, but Israel’s Channel 12 said the number was more than a hundred.

On Saturday, the Palestinian resistance launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood against Israeli military sites and settlements near the besieged Gaza Strip in “response” to the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem and increased settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank as well as against the suffocating siege that has been imposed on Gaza for 17 years.

In retaliation, the Israeli army initiated Operation Swords of Iron against Palestinians, launching air strikes against civilians in the Gaza Strip.

According to figures released by the Ministry of Health in Gaza yesterday, at least 687 Palestinians have been killed and 3,800 others injured. An additional 17 Palestinians, including four children, were killed and 295 were injured by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank.

According to the Israeli media, more than 900 Israelis were killed, while the Ministry of Health in Israel said at least 2,616 people were injured.
