As heavy fighting continues between Israeli forces and Palestinian groups, here are the latest developments since Monday afternoon in the evolving situation, Anadolu Agency reports.

The fighting

At least 50 Palestinians were killed and 120 were injured in an Israeli airstrike on a public market area in the Jabalia refugee camp.

The Israeli army claimed that it had managed to regain control of all settlements near the borders with Gaza from Palestinian Hamas fighters.

Israeli airstrikes since Saturday have destroyed seven mosques in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli attacks have put Beit Hanoun Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip out of commission, unable to serve people who need medical attention, Palestinian authorities said.

About the ongoing conflict in the region, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “We are going to change the Middle East.”

Israeli airstrikes destroyed large parts of the Al-Rimal neighbourhood in Gaza City, leading to widespread internet and communications outages.

Conflict by numbers

The death toll of Palestinians rose to 687 people, including 140 children and over 2,900 injured.

At least 900 Israelis have been killed and over 2,616 wounded.

Over 123,500 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip were displaced, according to the UN.

More than 130 Israelis are reportedly being held captive.

Situation in the West Bank

Fifteen Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces across the West Bank since the start on Saturday of the military confrontation with Gaza, said the Ministry of Health.

 Tensions with Lebanon

The Israeli army confirmed that it had hit several targets in Lebanon with combat helicopters.

Israel targeted the outskirts of the southern town of Marwahin with phosphorus bombs, said Lebanon’s National News Agency.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad group claimed responsibility for an operation it carried out in southern Lebanon against Israeli soldiers.

Diplomatic front

Qatar is holding negotiations between Palestinian groups and Israel for a possible deal on a prisoner swap, an informed Palestinian source told Anadolu.

Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, and UK Foreign Secretary, James Cleverly, discussed the recent tensions between Israel and Palestine.

The US said that nine Americans have died during ongoing hostilities in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

China pushed back calls to condemn Palestine and stressed the way out of conflict is the two-state solution.

UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, said that he is “deeply distressed” by Israel’s decision to impose a “complete siege” on the Gaza Strip.

International reaction

After a glass door of a Jewish kosher restaurant was smashed in North London, London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, said: “There is no tolerance for hate in our city.”

Israeli-French reservists in France are heading to Tel Aviv to join the Israeli army as the conflict escalates, local media reported.

Switzerland urged both Hamas and the Israeli army to protect civilians, saying “de-escalation is the priority.”

A rally by Bangladesh’s major religio-political party, Jamaat-e-Islami, condemned the Israeli attacks on Gaza and urged the Muslim world to ensure the safety of Palestinians and their rights.

The European Commission announced that it will suspend development aid to Palestine after recent developments in Israel.

Scotland’s First Minister, Humza Yousaf, said his parents-in-law are trapped in Gaza amid the escalating conflict between Hamas and Israel.
