Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif Bin Rashid Al Zayani, yesterday received the credentials of Sultan Bin Ali Al Khater, the first ambassador-designate of the State of Qatar to Bahrain after the two countries resumed ties last year.
According to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), Al Zayani welcomed the ambassador and wished him success in his diplomatic duties.
Al Zayani underscored the ministry’s commitment to supporting the development of Bahrain-Qatar relations and further strengthening cooperation in various fields.
For his part, the Qatari envoy commended the strong relations between the two countries, wishing the kingdom further progress and prosperity.
Last Tuesday, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, received the credentials of the new Bahraini Ambassador to Doha, Mohammed Bin Ali Al Ghatam, a day after the Bahraini envoy presented his credentials to the Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan Bin Saad Al Muraikhi.
In June, Bahrain and Qatar announced the exchange of ambassadors for the first time since 2017. This came as part of a series of steps to improve bilateral relations since the Gulf reconciliation in 2021.
