The Israeli occupation army said this morning that its forces killed five Palestinian resistance fighters in Tulkarm during its operation in the West Bank, which entered its second day, the Palestinians Information Centre reported.
A spokesperson for the Israeli army said that Israeli forces with the help of the police and the Shin Bet security agency killed five gunmen inside a mosque in the West Bank city of Tulkarm overnight.
Among those killed was Mohamed Jaber, known as Abu Shuja, the commander of the Nur Shams Brigade that is affiliated with the armed wing of Islamic Jihad.
There has been no Palestinian confirmation about the Israeli claim.
Meanwhile, 21-year-old Majd Dawoud, a university student, was shot dead by Israeli occupation soldiers during their raid on Nur Shams camp. His body was then taken by occupation forces while medical crews were barred from entering the camp to tend to the wounded.
Special Israeli forces also infiltrated the camp and kidnapped Mohamed Qassass after shooting and injuring him, claiming he was wanted.
Yesterday, an elderly citizen was shot dead by Israeli sniper fire while in his house in Nur Shams camp.
In Jenin, the Ministry of Health announced that 35-year-old Firas Alaqimah died of a bullet injury he sustained during the Israeli military raid in the city.
Alaqimah’s death brought to seven the number of the victims that were killed yesterday by Israeli forces in Jenin City.
The Israeli occupation army yesterday launched its largest offensive in the West Bank in two decades. The operation, which involved two army brigades, helicopters, drones and bulldozers, targeted the cities of Jenin, Tulkarm and Tubas.
