Tunisian authorities yesterday announced the arrest of two individuals who were sentenced to prison on charges of “belonging to a terrorist organisation.”

In two separate statements, the General Directorate of the National Guard said it “arrested a Takfiri individual in the Bizerte governorate, who was wanted under search warrants issued by the Court of Appeal in Tunis on charges of suspected membership in a terrorist organisation and was sentenced to 4 years in prison.”

In a second statement, it said that “the units in Kasserine were able to arrest two people, one of whom is wanted in 19 cases and accused of belonging to a terrorist organisation, and who had been sentenced to 11 years in prison.”

Tunisia has witnessed terrorist attacks from time to time, which claim the lives of dozens of security personnel, soldiers and foreign tourists.
