American-Israeli families have filed a $500 million lawsuit against the Syrian government, accusing it of financing, arming and providing material support to Palestinian Resistance group, Hamas.

According to Israeli media reports, dozens of families recently filed the lucrative lawsuit in the US Federal District Court in Washington, alleging the Syrian regime’s involvement in Hamas’s attack into Israeli-held territory on 7 October.

Not only did Damascus provide financial aid, the lawsuit asserted, but also provided military equipment, logistical support and allowed Syrian territory to be used for preparations. The plaintiffs also claim that Syria’s support for Hamas directly facilitated the group’s alleged massacre and killing of Israelis that day – acts of which were overwhelmingly later proven to have been committed by Israeli forces – and that Syria’s assistance allowed Hamas to carry out extrajudicial killings, hostage-taking and torture.

The lawsuit also essentially argues that the Assad regime could not have provided that level of support without explicit approval from senior officials.

The lawsuit is reportedly represented by Dr. Gideon Fisher & Co., an Israeli law firm that has been gathering testimonies and evidence from Israelis who witnessed the 7 October attacks, which is also working alongside US-based legal experts who specialise in cases related to ‘terrorism’.

Its plaintiffs are actively seeking compensation for the alleged physical and emotional damages they and their families suffered during the Hamas operation in the areas surrounding the Gaza Strip.
