The Sudanese government has once again accused the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of providing military support to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Al-Khaleej Online reported.
In a press conference held in Port Sudan yesterday, Sudan’s Foreign Minister Hussein Awad said that UN reports confirm 400 flights carrying weapons landed at Um Jars and N’Djamena Airports in Chad.
He also asserted that the Sudanese government has evidence that points to the UAE’s involvement in violence against Sudanese civilians, especially in Al-Fashir.
Meanwhile, Sudan’s Information Minister, Graham Abdel Qader, stated that “the UAE has provided political cover for the RSF’s activities by transporting military equipment and facilitating the transfer of wounded RSF fighters to receive treatment at Sheikh Zayed Hospital.”
The UAE has repeatedly denied all accusations made by the Sudanese government, asserting that it has not supplied arms or funds to the RSF or any party involved in the conflict.
The conflict in Sudan erupted in April 2023 when the power struggle between the military and the RSF escalated into an “open war”. This has led to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in the country, with nearly half of its 50 million population now facing severe shortages of food and medical supplies.
