Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, said yesterday that they “categorically” reject foreign intervention in Sudan and Libya while supporting political solutions for both countries.

This came during a joint press conference held by the leaders at Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo following talks.

During the press conference with his Algerian counterpart, Al-Sisi reiterated the need to form a government in Sudan that prepares for holding elections and eventually stabilising the country’s internal affairs.

Al-Sisi also stressed the need for Libya to form a government that can arrange for elections to be held that produce a legitimate leadership that leads the country.

He stressed that Egypt supports this path, and is ready to cooperate with parties to achieve the unity and stability of Libya.

They also called for a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.
