Turkiye’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, stated that he grieved for the loss of life and lamented the ongoing crisis in Gaza, Anadolu News Agency reports.
According to the report, Erdogan stated that this has been a ‘shameful day for humanity’, with over 50,000 civilians killed and nearly two million people subject to a continuous bombardment.
Erdogan’s comments are Turkiye’s most recent condemnation of the violence and the ongoing humanitarian crisis afflicting the people of Gaza. President Erdogan responded by characterising the violent upsurge in Gaza as a humanitarian tragedy.
The Turkish leader lamented that too many civilians have been killed and urged immediate action to help the Palestinian people.
Since the beginning of the hostilities, Turkiye has called for an end to the violence and affirmed that it will continue to support Palestinian rights.
