The Israeli occupation army carried out several air strikes targeting a number of sites under the pretext that they belong to Hezbollah in Lebanon, in violation of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on 27 November.

A security source told the Israeli Army Radio that occupation forces attacked border crossings between Lebanon and Syria and two other military sites “belonging to Hezbollah where militants were hiding.”

Israeli fighters also launched two strikes on the outskirts of the town of Houmin Al-Fawqa in the Nabatieh district of southern Lebanon.

Israel has repeatedly violated the ceasefire with Hezbollah, through incursions, artillery and tank shelling, the demolition of homes and the flying of drones and warplanes.

Last Thursday, Israeli surveillance drones flew over several towns in the Nabatieh governorate, coinciding with the parliament session during which the council elected Army Commander Joseph Aoun as president of the country.

Under the ceasefire terms, Israel is required to withdraw its forces south of the Blue Line – a de facto border – in phases, while the Lebanese army is to deploy in southern Lebanon within 60 days.

Data from the Lebanese Health Ministry indicates that since Israel’s onslaught against Lebanon began on 8 October 2023, at least 4,063 people have been killed in Lebanon, including women, children and health workers, while 16,664 others have been injured.
