Palestinian child killed in Israeli shelling targeting returnees to northern Gaza

A Palestinian child was killed and three others were injured yesterday as Israeli occupation forces shelled displaced individuals returning to northern Gaza via Al-Rasheed Street.

Al-Awda Hospital, located in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, stated in a press release that a Palestinian child was killed, and three others were injured in the Israeli attack.

Earlier on Monday, displaced Palestinians began their return to northern areas including Gaza City. The Gaza Government Media Office reported that over 300,000 displaced Palestinians crossed into northern Gaza through Al-Rasheed Street in the west and Salah Al-Din Street in the east.

The return of Palestinians comes as part of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal which came into effect on 19 January.
