Strengthened ties between Iran and Saudi will benefit the region and enhance solidarity among Islamic countries, Iranian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ali Reza Enayati, said yesterday,

Saudi newspaper Okaz reported that Enayati added that the new path of communication and interaction between the two countries, which was launched in the last two years, has become a fixed and irreversible path.

Enayati indicated that the strengthening of bilateral relations will not only be limited to the two countries but will contribute to strengthening regional cooperation and enhancing solidarity between the Islamic countries.

He stressed the existence of “continuous communication and coordination between leaders and officials,” indicating that the two countries “have enormous potential and huge resources and are able to cooperate in several areas that contribute to achieving growth and prosperity for the entire region.”

The Iranian ambassador expressed his gratitude to the officials in the kingdom in facilitating the affairs of Iranian pilgrims and Umrah performers and providing services to them.

He pointed out that the number of pilgrims in the last season reached 90,000 pilgrims, while about 100,000 Iranians have performed Umrah so far, stressing: “We are working to increase the number, in response to the desire of our citizens to visit the holy sites.”

Since the signing of the reconciliation agreement in Beijing on 10 March 2023, Riyadh and Tehran have worked to bring perspectives closer and enhance cooperation in order to restore relations in various fields.
