The Palestinian Football Association announced on Tuesday that it has signed an agreement with the Asian Football Confederation to establish a field hospital in the Gaza Strip, Anadolu has reported.
The signing ceremony was held on Monday in the Turkish capital, Ankara. The event was attended by Issam Qaddoumi, Secretary-General of the Palestinian Supreme Council for Youth and Sports; Faed Mustafa, the Palestinian Ambassador to Ankara; Badr Aqel, Director of the Medical Department of the Football Association; and representatives from the Palestine Red Crescent Society.
The statement noted that the hospital will be funded by the Confederation to “support the healthcare sector in Gaza and strengthen the Palestinian people’s ability to cope with mounting challenges, particularly in light of the extensive destruction inflicted on medical facilities and hospitals” by Israeli military operations.
Jibril Rajoub, the President of the Palestinian Football Association, expressed his gratitude to the Confederation and its President, Salman Bin Ibrahim, for what he described as a “noble humanitarian gesture that underscores the strong ties between the two federations.”
